13QU1D BLUEING.-To one part of
Prussian blue add gradually two parts
oiconcentrated muriatic acid. Let the
pte,stand for twenty-four hours, then
sad nine parts of water, and bottle
it.
The solution of indigo in sulphuric
acid is also used for the same purpose.
To prepare itj plverize one ounce of
pure indigo, and add it by degrees to
fusa4af-ounes of concentrated
slgrioaidl, mixing it well by stir
ring. with a glass rod. If desired, the
acid may afterwards be neutralized
with carbonate of potash.

We have known, some- farmers
make it a regular ptactice for a
number of years to throw caustic
lime around their apple trees in th.e
spring and sunmer. We ouce no

mediate vicinity of our dwe'li:!,
had all at once put forth with renewed
energy, and we were at .loss for soi e
time to define the cause. On exam.
nation we found thitf a quantity of
lime that had accidentally been spill
ed and rendered worthless by becom
i,jg mixed with the refuse on the sta
ble floor, had bee.: thrown- at-the foot
and around- the tree, and to this, as
the principal cause, we immediately at
tributed the reviviseence and renewed
fructuation of the tree. -
-Taking the hint from the iceidet,
we purchased twelve casks of lime,
and applied half a bushel to each of
the'treesini our orchard, and found
that it produced immediate beneficial
effects. Not the health of the trees
only, but the quality of the fruit was

tity of ox gall, and four' ounces of tur
pentine carefully stirred in ; to the
whole enough pipe-clay is to be add
ed to form a thin paste, which is to be
'run through a hair sieve. It is then

OIL OF CREAM.-Take a gill (or
more) of fresh, sweet cream; put it
in a tin eu~por saucepan, and Bet it on
the back part of the stove, or range,
where it can bd kept hot, but will not
boil'. Tn five or six hours an oil will
rise, which is agreeable and delicate,
and can be used in all dysentric affee
tions. It is slightly purgative, and is
aost a specific in such cases. A
teaspoonful is a dose. It can be giv
en to infants in smalrer doses and' is
ofgreat value where irritaiocm.of tli
mucous miembrane exists.1
