Wednesday, April 3. 8S. Gen. Garlingtou a Dramatist. We notice in our exchanges that our esteemed ex-citizen Gen. Garling ton, now a resident of Atlanta, Ga.. and in the successful practice of his profevsion, has found time to devote to other Pursuits, and Ias writteu - drama of high merit, embracing the period of Butler's reign in New Or leans. It will soon be given to the public, being now in course of publi cation. Good for Abbeville. Among our exchanges this week is a copy of Fowler's Bazaar of Fash icn. literature and art, a very elegant and fascinating paper, in that it re stes to and is filled with fashion de. signs, and many other things which ladies are always delighted to read about, or look at. It is published by Messrs. J. W. Fowler & Co., the eu terp.siAng ,ry Goods, Millinery and Dress Making firm cf the town of Ab beville, and is furrished by this go ahead house at the low price of $1 per annum. Diseontinnance of Ku Klux Cases. The Columbia Phornix says, S. T. Carrow. United States Marshal for the State of North Carolina. has issued instructions to deputy marshalls not to execute any more capiases or sub pxnas in any cases wherein the de fendants are charged with violations of the Enforcement or Ku Klux Act. Witnesses are informed that they need not attend. This order has been ex tended by V. S. Lusk, District At torney for the Western District of North Carolina, and all persons sum moned, recognized, or otherw*sc bound to appear a; witnesses at the United States Circuit or District Courts, either at. Greensboro, Statesville or Asheville, against parties indicted under this Act, are excused from any furLher attenidance. :-.ad discharged fron any further duty as witnesses in :nv indictment, unless summoned. Brain- Wastiag. An interesting and practical course of elinical lectures on mental and cere bral diseases has been delivered by J. Crichton Brown. M. D., Lecturer ou Miental Diseases to the Leeds School oft Medicine; and in one on brain-wast inis. he states that: 1. Women recover fromn this disease more frequently and ranidly than men. 2. The earlier the age at which brain-wasting occurs, the better is the prospect of recovery. 3. The more decided the paralytic symp toms the more is the prospect of re covery. Hie also says we owe a debt 'af gratitude to Dr. Radclitie for point ing oaut the value of cod-liver oil anid the hypophosphites in debilitating, uervous diseases. They supply the .ontial ele, aents of nerve-nntrition in an easily assi:gilable for:, atnd are unmiistakablv beneficial in cases of brain-wasting. A tablespoonful of cod-liver oil, and fifteen graius of the hypoph..aphite of soda. given t.wice or three times daily, at the onset of such a case, often arrest at once the down ward tendency, and induce retoration of mental anid muscular power. Somec times, when these remedies seeCin inef *fectua!. doses of fromi tive to nifteen drops of tineture oaf opium and su!phu r ik .:her. twice a. day. expedit.a their act ion, besides conferring independent benenits.
