To New York Advertising Agents.
Two-thirds of the propositions made u by
advertising Agents at the .urth are on such
low terms that it is impossible to entertain
or accept them The character, too, of some
of the adverti*emeuts are objectinable. As
we are almost daily in receipt of some such
propo,itions, and neither have the time or
incliuation to answer and state reasons for
not :,ecepting, we make the notice, that when
no attention is paid to letters of this kind
the gentlemen will ut:derstand that their fa
vors are not appreciated, for one or the
other of the followins! reasons : First, that
-with one or two exceptions-we have been
egregiously taken in in the past, and here
after quarterly in advance payment must in
variably accompany an order; and second,
the adver:isement maqt be unexceptior:able,
gift concerts., &c., wil! nct be published. if.

Clinton, S. C., price 15 ets. We ic
knowiedge receipt of a copy, and have
no doubt it is a valuable aid to the use
ful science of phonography, to which Mr.
Jacobs has given so much study and at
tention.

views of Gen. Moses, on the above ques
