Under the names of Greeley and Brown

Electors. This ticket represents the
Democratic and Liberal Republican ele
ments of the State, and we think it the

rect result, but we will have done our
duty, and one which will have sone fu
ture effect for good. Go to the polls,
and vote for the electors thus associated

The State Fair
We learn tha:t the most extensive pre
parations are beig made for the Annual
rair of the A::ricultural and Mechanical
Society, which t4ke?s .place next weth,
conmmlencing on: the 4th, and it is pro
maised that it will exceed in attraction
any of the preceding cxhibitions of in
dus,tries. The main buildings have been
improved, as wecll as the outside stands
and booths, and all arranged so as to give
the greatest general entisfaction to ex
hibitors and vi:,itors. The oretniumn
lists also arec larger and more co-mprehe-n
si Ve, and it is reasonab!y hoped that all
other outsid': interests as well as ilcl
ties considered, this fourth annual gath
ering wil bec a perfect success.

We refer our readers to the letter of
Mr. Gary, on the first page of this paper.
it vrill be seen that lie charge, certain
State officials with a scheme to defraud
the people and thereby enrich themselves.
It is plain and signifcant, and judging
by the past, is true. The ring have a
new lease of the State, ard for two years
more will have it in their tower to raid
on the Treasury-and the only question
now to be solved is, will it he as bad as
in the past, and is the ring now really
sharpening thetr wits and greedily wait
ing for the election of a tax, which,
should it be levied and p-tid in, is needed
for rightiul purposes. To wiat a low
ebb has it come. It aoes seem that
there mnight be a init sotnewhere, and
that these unrigiteous frauds shoUld end.
Is there no way at all to stop the thicv
ing? Not content with past gains, and
not willing to wait, this greedy crew,
according to Mr. Gary's aconit, would
levy special taxes to fill their pockets
