C.: The folowing is a correct statement of Cot ton raised by Stevens & Cureton, on 14 acres Df stubble land, which was manured with 400 pounds of Carolina Fertilizer. The following is the mode of cultivation: It was thoroughly broken up 12 inches deep, and laid off in rows 31 feet wide, and the Fertilizer applied in the :rill, then bedded on it on the 15rh of May, and planted the same day, but owing to the :-ool and dry weather, did not come up to a ltand until about the 1st of June. First work Eng it was run around with a half shovel and partially trimmed out with a hoe. Second vorkin.g it was run around with a 3 inch grub, 12 inches long, and the middles thrown )ut with a sweep 18inches wide. One furrow to a row and thinned to a stand with a hoe about 12 inches between the stocks. and af terwards it was ploughed every two weeks with a sweep 1S iaches wide, and hoed each time, until it was worked five times.
