capitalists,. it. is rumored, has been form.
ed for th.e purehase of railroad stocks in
this State with a view to consolitdation,
reorgaiiization, and extension more par.

the upper portion of the State. The
parties in the movement, it is said, in
clude both Southern and Northern rail
road men, who n1m at consolidating the
Greenville & Columbia, Laurens, Spar
tanburg & Union, and illno ltidgo Rail
roads. A nummber of old lending citizens
from the up-country, it is reported, are
voamni advocates of the measure."
Another correspondent of the stame
paper writes: "It is reported that the
sate parties who have purchnsed the
stock of the G1reenville and Columbia
Railroad, have obtained control of the
Wilmington ann Manchester Railroad."
