An Ordinance to preserve the peace

Be It ordained by the Town Counel, and
by authority of tie samle thatilfter the pass
ag- of this Ordinance, it shall be the duty of
the Marshall to arrest all persons guilty ol
misdemeanors or lighter crimes, within the
corporate limits or the Town of Newberry,
by violation of the laws of the State ol
South Carolina, or by violation of any Ordi
nanee of the Town of Newberry, and brin
them before the Intendent or a warden act
lig in his stead, whom the Intendent na
appoint for that purpose, at such hour a
may be designated from timo to time, for v
daily police Court and that the Intendent,
or Warden acting in his stead shall hav(
power to pass such order in the premises at,
in his opinion justice may require consist
ently with the authority of Council, in suol1
