The crocus and blue bells. are peeping forth
Their tiny petals, from.out the earth;
And voices are murmuring in the breezo,
O'er the hills, and through tho trees;
All nature, with hppy voices sing,
This bright, this beautiful day of Spring,
I stand by the spot, whore my little cot
Once stood, so quint and blest,
There is not a treo or flower left

We think of our country, how it bled,
We think of our lost and early dead,
And still we hear, and know, and feel,
The tramp of the oppressor's heel;
We hate and despise the loathsome thing,
As we remember our wrongs, this beautiful
Spring.
Ruthless tyrant, savage foe,
Thou hast tilled the Southron's cup of woo,
Run it over, fill it up,
Even now, we drain it, drop by drop,
Drink to our shame, and burled glory,
And lot them tell the coward story,
Of our property stolen-our Lomestead
burned,
And Southern hearts to traitors turned,
Southern Sons have bled und died,
And Southern hearis st1l1 bleed;
As we .it by our rultied fireside,
And recall the accursed deed ;
For like Estia, somle have sokl
Their birthright, for the Tyrant's gold.
