A Bachelor' Ode to Brigham Young,
t wtoiet 4Mormon,
W fifour-and-twenty wives,

IWrate I u a kingdom

IslIt woll, oh Brigham Young,
.r)is it rihtly done,
That you have over forty wives, ?
And I have never one?
Anf-Is it well your childreu count
About five score and three,
And not a single child can traco
Ills virtues down to me?
You're but an ordinary man,
Your meTitS are but small,
And what a fractionli poor part
To eaci your children fall;
While I perchance on two or three
bly genius could bestow,
And may thus prove a parent to
A Newton-or a Poo.
No sowing buttons on for you.
No rents are wanting stitches;
You have a spouse for overytiting,
-.Ono for each pair of breeches;
And then, wlien weary (iay is o'er,
Each evening of your tife
You have i house to visit
And a new and,blooming wife.
My- love Is boundless as the sea,
. As certain to onduro,
Enougli for four young loving wives
I'm feeling very sure; i
Yhen what a sliate, Ol I BrIgham Young
You've one for overy dlay,

The Blue Ridge Ralroad.
The Columbia Phoni of yesterday
has the following encouragiog paragraph
In relation to the Blue Ridge Rai(road:
We learn that a full report by Colo.
not James P. Low, Chief Engineer jpf
the Blue Ridge Railroad, of his recent
reconnoissance of. the line of the road
from Walhalla to the Rabian Gap, has
been received by General Harrison, the
President of the Company. Wo are
gid to harn that the deterioration of
the rond-hed and bridges, which it wits
tipprelhended would be conssiderable,
from the long interval since worik was
suspended, is pronounced comparatively
trivial, in consequence of the substantial
character of the work orig;nally, and the
statement is offici illy made, that the
line from Walhalla to Rabun Gap (te
tunnels included) can be completed in
twenty months from the time that op
arations are resumed. Colonel Lowe
proposes at once to commence the re
survey of the linlo, with an effective P
force of assistants, and expects to have
the working estimates ready For the con. m
tractors in the early part of April ; so
(lint there are reasonable hopes for the
completion of the road from Anderson
to the Rabiun Gap by the month of De
comber, 1870. As nearly all the difil.
culties on the route to Knoxville are com- 8
prised within this section, and as the
remainder of it is of easy construction,
we can ai od to congratulate our rend
ers on tlt eat ly (erminat'on of this work, j
whii will make Sonth Carolina the
thoroughfare, and Charleston the out. (

mighty West.
