GOD willing, I shall cause to be published, at a place, time and price hereafter deter mined upon, a Weekly Paper, with the above style and title. The general object of the publication will be the maintenance of the Christian Scrip tures as the standard of right, in all ques tions which involve morality, whether these. questions appertain to man individually ~or collectively, and whether arising from his relation to God or his neighbor. Enjoining conscientious obedience to all the ordinances of civil government not in conflict with the law of God, the CHRIS TIAN NEIGHBOR will be an unequivocal advocate of Christianity as opposed to war. While neither polities nor other uncon gnial matter shall in any wise alloy ; yet he principles of Christianity will be applied to all matters, so far as they involve moral principle. Politics shall be excluded from religion, yet the former shall not be exempt fon the application of the latter. Identified with the Methodist Eprscopal Church, South. whose authority under God is paramount with me,. and holding the principles announced, the NEIGHBOR is offered as a medium of advocacy of all the intressof Christianity in that branch of the Church, and also as an agency for en larging and establishing in other churches, and in thle regions beyond, that, Kingdom of Christ "which is not of this world." I desire to ascertain, through the agency of all who .will so far interest themselves, what number of subscribers (name, post offie, County and State,) may be reckoned in the beginning; tbe price governed by size of sheet for six oi- twelve months to be fort'-coming on the reception of the first ntumber.
