moved to this traetaking by the solicita
tions of betleIn o Various portions of this

tesete of the late Confederate Baptist, and
bso own conviction that a paper of a
high ehi-eter w uld contribute largely to
the inteUectual improvement, the religious
progress and the general welfare of the
churches. The field is large, affording am
ple room for all sincere and zealous labor
ers.
The Baptist will be printed- on a sheet
about twenty-two by thirty-two inches, and
will contain .twenty-four broad columns,
mosly in Long Primer type, clear and legi
ble, so that it may be read with comfort,
even by the aged. Its entire mechanical
execution si1 be of the highest order. Our
eelWwna will be enriched-by correspondence
-adeontinbutions form the other Southern
'.Sitaea,.d, occasionally from Europe and
" our ssiisionary stations abroad. The enter
