Cong. Lever to be Opposed.
Reports from the Republican Convention
held in Columbia yesterday,
indicate that Congressman A. F.
Lever is to be opposed in the General
Election in November by aRepdblican
candidate. Not only is Mr. Lever to
have opposition, but every other Congressman
in the State is likewise to be
opposed by a negro. Such tactics
should be stopped and stopped for- j
ever by an act of Congress, and it is
hoped that some thing may be done.
These negroes only run for the purpose
of drawing the salary allowed by

To Teach In Jacksonville.
Miss Jodie Caughman, one of our
own dear Lexington girl9, came over
from Columbia to spend the week-end
with her aunt, Mrs. Amanda Leaphart.
Mi9S Jodie has returned from New
York, where 9he has been taking a
special course in expression and physical
culture. Miss Caughman goes to
Jacksonville this week where she resumes
her duties as teacher of expression
and voice in the city schools there.
