Orangeburg College Will Be
Sold.

college has been placed in the hands of
a receiver. * Perry M. Smoak has been
named as receiver for the institution.
Proceedings were instituted against
Orangeburg college by the Marchant
Masic company of this city. Mr.
Smoak was appointed this morning as
receiver under order of Judge I. W.
Bowman. The receiver has qualified
and entered upon bis duties. He will
dispose of the college property and
- doubtless Orangeburg college will be
no more. After the property is sold
and debts paid the remaining proceeds
will be turned over to the people who
subscribed to the endowment their
prorata share.

Obituary
Miss Martha Taylor was bcrn in
March, 1843. and died Sept. 14, 1914,
in the 71st year of her age. Early in
life she joined the Baptist church, and
was strictly true to that faith through
her long life. She was honored ard
respected by her neighbors, and many
friends and was one of the best of
nurses around the sick bed; her pres
ents was hailed with delight by many ,
who were glad to see her come. She
expressed herself to the writer a t-hort
time before she died that she was
readv to depart and he with the Lord.
