Car Turns Turtle.
Orangeburg, May 23.?Thi3 afternoon,
while returning from a fish fry,
? E. C. Mann and W. F., Buyck, members
of the St. Matthews bar, and R.
D. Zimmerman, a farmer of Calhoun
county, suffered a severe accident by
their auto turning turtle. Ed C.
Mann's left arm was crushed at the
wrist and badly mangled. Besides the
broken arm, he suffered minor injuries.
Walter F. Buyck was injured
in the side and arm, out his injuries
are not serious. Rursell Zimmerman
suffered a bruised knee.
At Bremen, Ga., W. M. Golden, of

Death Sentences AfErmei.
Meeks Griffin, Thomas Griffin, Xelson
Brice and John Crosby, negrots,
must pay the death penalty at some
date, to be fixed by the Chester county
court, for the murder of John Q.
Lewis, who was killed in his home 10
miles from Chester in April of 1913.
The supreme court, in a decision by
Chief Justice Gary, affirmed the sentence
of death imposed by the Chester
court. The negroes were to have been
electrocuted September 26,1913,

Child Dies Suddenly.
Oiio, Mav 27.?A child of Mr. and
Mrs. W. C. Smith was taken suddenly
ill two da>s ago, and indications
'pointed to poisoning from unknown
causes. The child died this evening.
A colored nurse is said to have admitted
giving the child carbolic acid
in revenge for chastisement given her
a short tim9 since. The nurse has
been placed in jail at Bennettsville.
The child that died was 6 months old.

Boy Accused as Horse Thief.
Gaffney, May 29.?An alleged horse
thief in the person or a 15-year-old
boy was arrested by local officers in
Gaffney yesterday. It is said he had
taken the horse from where it wa9
hitched at a shop in Biacksbnrg and
as he came into Gaffney wa3 arrested.
The animal is the properly of David
Gibbons. The boy gave his name as
John Ernest.
