Power Turned On.
The Parr Shoals Power Company at I
Parr Shoals was turned on last Saturday
at coon for the first time, and on
Monday, June 1, the company began
to furnish power to a number of enterprises
throughout the State. This is j
one of the most wonderful water-power j
plants in the entire country and has j
been completed at a cost of several j
million dollars.
i
The opening of the power company
was celebrated with a big barbecue to
which many invitations had been issued.
On Friday night the employees
of Mr. Edwin W. Robertson, of Columbia,
prime mover in the undertaking
and owner of the plant, gave
Mr. Robertson a bananet, in Columbia.
which for bcanty and elegance has
never been equaled in the history of
Columbia. The new plant will furnish
power for plants all 07er the State,
and will be the means of developing
the natural resources of the State.
Mr. H. L. Parr, of dewberry, or- j
t nizpd the fi?*8t oor?rNOTlr o. via rr
to develop the present plant, and to
him much credit should be given.
The new plant is partly in Lexington
and partly in Fairfield county and
will add much to the taxable property
of the two counties.
