Barton, Under the

Houston, Texas.?In an interesting
letter from this city, Mrs. S. C. Burton
writes as follows: "I think it is my duty
to tell you what your medicine, Cardui,
the woman's tonic, has done for me.
I was down sick with womanly trouble,
and my mother advised several different
treatments, but they didn't seem to do
me any good. I lingered along for three
or four months, and for three weeks. J
was in bed, so sick i couldn't bear fox
any one to wall: across the floor.
My husband advised me to try Cardui,
the woman's tonic. I have taken two
bottles of Cardui, am feeling fine, gained
15 pounds and do all of my housework.
Friends hardly know me, I am so well."
If you suffer from any of the ailments
SO common to women, don't allow the
trouble to become chronic. Begin taking
Cardui to-day. It is purely vegetable,
its ingredients acting in a gentle, natural
way on the weakened womanly constitution.
You run no risk in trying Cardui. ,
It has been helping weak women back to
health and strength for more than 50

Seven Negroes Rescued.
Charleston, Feb. 13.?While making
her way into Charleston harbor late
la9t Friday afternoon the United States
revenue cutter Yamacraw, Capt. A. J.
' Henderson, rescued seven shipwrecked
negro fishermen from the rocks of the
south jetty and brought them safely
to shore. The negroes had been out
in the gasoline fishing smack, Seafisb, ,
when the engine went dead and the
craft began drifting toward the rocks.
In spite of their frantic efforts to control
the course of the smack, the northeast
gale drove her onto the rocks,
where she was later pounded to pieces.
The negroes leaped for the rock9 when
they saw their craft was doomed, and
for some time wera forced to cling to
the rocks, picking their way from one
high bolder to another as the flood tide
drove them higher. When the negroes
sighted the Yamacraw steaming into
the channel they doffed pants, shirts,
oilskins and other wearing apparel ana
began a frantic and concerted movement
to attract attention from the
passing vessel. Their signals were
sighted and at once Capt. Henderson
ordered a surfboat manned. Owing to
the stpaag northeast gale, which rendered
the channel exceedingly choppy
and tossed the waves furiously on the
jetties, the crew of the surfboat did
not have an easy time taking the fishermen
off. After so long a while,
however, they were placed safely
aboard tbe Yamacraw.
