Dnluckv Day for Rabbits
Friday, February 13, proved unlucky
for rabbits at least. The house
of representatives rejected promptly
and wit hout division the Kibler bill to
forbid the killing of bunnies between
March and October. Mr. Clement, of
Charleston, said that low-country
truckers had all they could do as it
was to keep down the rabbit crop and
if a close season wa9 established they
Would be overwhelmed and their crop9
utterlj^ consumed over night. Mr. |
KiMer viewed the rabbit as game and
on this ground urged his conversation,
saying practically no other species if
game remained in portions of the
P^dmcnt.

Verdict is Returned.
A verdict for $b80.8S was render,din
favor of the Southern Cotton Oil company
against the Bates burg Cotton Oil
company by a Lexington jury in common
pleas court. This was an action
brought by the Southern Cotton Oil
company because of the deficiency in
ihe grade and also in the alleged shortage
of weights in a tank of oil shipped i
from Batesburg to Savannah. The
defendant set up the plea of fraud on
the part of the arbitrators in New
York, to which board samples were
submitted. Attorneys for defendant
iinmeaiately gave notice of a motion
for a new trial, which will be argued j
later.
