Swansea, Oct. 24.?Wednesday afternoon
at the home of Mr. and Mrs. H.
W. Neese their daughter, Mjss Gertrude
Neese, and W. P. Bailey, of Hamlet,
N. C , were married, the Re7. Mr.
Whitaker, pastor of the Methodist
church here, officiating. Miss Rath
Bachman, a cousin of the bride, was
maid of honor and E. B. Bryce, of
Hamlet, N. C-, was best man, with
Miss Bernice Neese and L. K. Bachman,
also the bride's cousins, as attendants.
Mrs. Bailey is popalar here.
Mr. Baily holds a responsible position
on the^ Seaboard Air Line at Hamlet,
N. 0. The parlor was beautifully decorated
with ferns and pot plants.
After the wedding a bountiful repast
was served. The'bHdal party left op
the first train for Hamlet, their future
home.

Lutheran's Synod Adjourned.
Columbia, Oct., 26?Harmony and
success marked the 89th annual session
of Xmtheran synod of South Carolina,
which was held in Ban Claire in the
Church of the Ascension, . and which
came to a close yesterday afternoon
with the conclusion of the reading of
reports. Rev. W. A. 0. Mailer, of Charleston,
conducted the main service to
the closing day. The synod will meet
next year in Greenville, S C., beginning
the session on Tuesday after the
fourth Snnday in October
