Mrs. Lela R. Livingston Dead. The funeral of Mrs. Lela R. Livingston, wife of Charles H. Livingston, a wall known and prosperous Lexington oonnty farmer, who died in a hospital fei Oolnmbia Thursday night, took plaoe in the cemetery at Shiloh Methodist church, near her late home in the Hollow Creek section, Friday afternoon at four o'clock in the presence of a large congregation. The services were conducted by the family's pastor, the Rev. L. E. Peeler. Mrs. Livingston is survived bv her husband and seven children, live sou.i and fwo daughters. They are: S. Ernest Livingston, of Leesville; Clyde, Ryan, Lucius and Herbert; Mrs. T. H. Shull and Mrs. W. Lawrence Smith. She is survived also by one brother, R. A. Barr, of Gilbert; Mrs. W. E. j Barr, of Laurens; Mrs. W. A. James, j of Bishopville; Mrs. D. E. Hammond, | of Gilbert. She is survived also by her aged mother. She was a daughter of the late Col. D. T. Barr, of Rocky Well. McBee, Sept. 28.?J. M. King, a membor of the sheriff's posse, was instantly killed and Sheriff D. P. Douglass and Doputy J. R. Abbot were painfuily wounded today in trying to capture James Davis, a negro desperado, who fought to the last and is believed to have perished in the ruins of the burning house near Millendorf, this county, where he had Deen beseiged since early morning. Davis' wife, who aided him in his defense and subsequently escaped, is being sought by a posse. The end came after a battle with the negro in which many shots were fired. Summoned by Lester Burr, ginners' report man for this county, who had been fired on by the negro yesterday, and other prom- : nent men, the sheriff and his deputy went to Middendorf early today. Arriviug there, they found the object of their search, and the deputy at onco demanded his surrender. Chronic Dyspepsia. They found that Postmaster Leaphart had everything in first class condition, all the books well kept and in perfect balance which showed his office was ran in a business way, in accordance with the postal laws, and gives Postmaster Leaphart an excellent rating with the post office department. The inspec tors were also very much pleased with the showing made by the Postal Savings Bantr. The amount of deposits at this place standing third in the State.
