off the departure of the Pilgrims from
gouthampten for America was unveiled
by Walter Hines Page, the United
States ambassador. It is a column
erected on the site of the pier from
which they embarked on the Mayflower.
The ceremonies were presided
over by the mayor of Southampton.
Speeches "were made by members of
Alden, Winslow and Brewster famines

Youngstown, Ohio.

Sheriff Miller went over in Aiken
county Friday and arrested Gasper
Kirkland on the charge of bastardy.
Kirkland was carried before Magistrate
