Senatorial Rumor.
In reference to the coming race for
the United States Senate, the Orange
barg Sun, carries the following story:
A gentleman of this city, holding a
high public position, returned from a
visit to Colombia yesterday and stated
that he learned at the Capital City that
W. P. Stevenson, of Cheraw, would
undoubtedly be in the race for United
States Senator to succeed Senator E.
D. Smith.
Mr. Stevenson has been the AntiBlease
leader in the Legislature during
the last two sessions, and is a
regular cvclone in a rough and tumble
speaking content. That he will make

Governor Blease long ago announced
his candidacy, and confidently predicts
that he will be the winner.
Senator Smith will be a candidate to
suce^d himself.
With these three entries the race
promises to be the livliest political
contest that lias been pulled off in this
State of lively political battles in a
longtime. '
There is also si ill a possibility that
Congressman.Lever will throw his hatin
the Senatorial ring, and a rumor.

New Language.
A new language is to be giyen to
the world, its author having worked
for a half century to solve the problems
which came with the destruction
of the tower of Babel. The new lanquage
is to be named "Veltlang,"
which means "word language,'' and
the author is Prof. Frederick J. Braendle,
official translator for the pension
office at' Washington. Prof. Braendle
has command of 16 languages.
"Five thousand words constitute a
thoroughly working workable knowledge
of any language for commercial
or ordinary literary uses," says Prof.
Braendle. "In constructing Veltlang
I have taken 3,000 of the words right
out of the English. English is today
the most broadly spoken language of
modern times. Veltlang is English
with its spelling altogether simplified
and its grammar likewise.
"The alphabet which I have invented
as the vehicle for Veltlang consists
of 20 letters for which I use cur1

Deafness Cannot Be Cured
by local applications, as they cannot
reach the diseased portion of the ear.
There is only one way to cure deafness,
and that is by constitutional remedies.
Deafness i9 caused by an inflamed ooikdition
of the mucous lining of the
Eustachian Tube. When this tube is
inflamed you have a rumbling sound
or imperfect heariner, and when it. is
entirely closed, Deamess 19 the result,
and unless the inflammation can bf
taken out and this tube restored to ite
normal condition, hearing will be destroyed
forever; nine cases out of ten
are caused by Catarrh, which is nothing
but an inflamed condition of the
mucous surfaces.
We will give One Hundred Dollars
for any case of Deafness (caused by
catarrh) that cannot be cured by Hall's
Catarrh Cure. Send for circulars, free.
