DXTAlLgOF AUSTIN'S CAPTURE.
D. T. Padgett, one of the commissioners
of Hampton county, who was
atNewiqgton, Ga, and who saw the
<v capture of Austin, told the story Thors ?'
day. According to Mr. ^ Padgett's
story it seems that Sheriff Morris and^
1 Mr. Stavinger were at the home of
Mr. Marvin Jarrell, about seven miles
above Newington, on Taesday eve.
; ning. Mr. Jarrell was not at home. !
, About dark a negro came, up to the j
rear of the house and asked for some-!
thing to eat, stating that he was wet,. J
cold and hungry. Miss Jarrell recog*

Austin admitted killing Mr. Victor

men had been shot by accident by '
members of the posse. He said that
r the reason he had taken Magistrate
Edenfield's gun was becaase South
Carolina folks had taken bis overcoat.

to South Carolina from Georgia, had
secured apiece of land and had intended
to set?e down to farming.
