Harris, postmaster at Charleston, died on Wednesday on the steamer Mohawk, of the Clyde Line, while on his way to New York to consalt a specialist about his health, He was a native of New York State, and had been postmaster at Charleston 12 years. Charlie Warren and Sam Gib30r>, two sweet scented gentlemen of African descent, who were doing time on the Lexirgton chain gang for some infraction of the law and who made their escape about two weeks ago, have been over in Columbia, playing "peep eyes" with the police of that city, It is alleged that they at >le two cows over there which they tried to sell away below their intrinsic value. The cows were recovered but the cul- , prits had left for parts unknown and have hot since been heard from. Fcr the first time in several months, Mr. G. M. Harman, the veteran editor of the Dispatch, was able to leave his room Thursday and mingle with his friends on the street.
