What has become of Vaughn, the
inhuman monster who was tried and
convicted in Greenville last fall and
sentenced to be electrocuted last
December for heinous crimes against
the person of some orphaned girls who j
weje under his care? Are the mothers
and fathers of the State going to
allow this crime to go unpunished?
Is justice to be blind folded and the
law denied its culprit?

Judge Bowman has refused a new
trial in the case of Mattie C. Moore
"vs. the Seaboard Air Line-Railrohd,

$25,000 damages given the plaintiff for
the killing of her husband at Cayce.

State News.
The jury in the case of E. 0. Black a
against The State Publishing Co. for
ibel which was heard ty the Richland
county court last ?week, the jury
brought in a verdict of $20,000 damages.
The suit was for $50,000. There
are two other suits growing out of the
publication of the same article.
Mr. W. T. Atkinson, of Sumter, has
a prolific sow having given birth to 42
pigs in three litters.
Mrs Epsy Jacobs, widow of the
late Joseph Jacobs< died at the home
of her daughter, Mrs. Willie Daily, at
Irmo on March 24th of pneumonia at |

The State Press Association will
meet in the city of Charleston on June
