Lee9ville, Feb. 13.?La9t evening
was an exceptionally pieasant and
profitable one to this community.
The occasion was the recital given by
the students of Summerland college
It was booked^for the previous evening,
but on account of the downpour
of rain it was held one day later. Notwithstanding
this change a very large
audience was present. Not only was
the chapel full, but the hall and dining
room had to be utilized to seat
the visitors. Automobiles full of people
came as far as the town of Lexington.

Holstcln Case Thrown Out.
A telephone message received heie
this week says that the case against
the Holsteins at Aiken for murder
has been nol pressed by the solicitor.
The case was that in which several of
the Holsteins beat Columbus Spradley
at Monetta pvtr a year ago, after
which the aunt of Spradley, near
whose home the affair took place, and
who at the time was suffering with
heart trouble, fell dead. The Holsteins
worn charged with her murder. The
has been on docket *or some
time, being put off at. each succeeding

U. S. Provides for Refugees.
Washington,- February i:>.?At the
direction of President Taft, Secretary ,
of State Knox today directed Ambassador
Henry Lane Wilson at Mexico
City, to draw on the treasury of the
United States for as much money as
he ne)dc-cl to house and feedr.il foreign
refugees in the City of Mexico.
This action was taken following the
receipt of Ambassador Wilson's report
today showing that more than
600 foreigners?about half of them
Americans?had sought refuge at the
embassy.
Wilson said that be had rented a

10,000 Turks Fall In Battle.
