as beinc verv ill. Mr. Paul Hite
and wife were called to his bedside

leaving for home after discharging his
duties as a juror.

been elected superintendent of the
Manning graded school to succeed
Prof. P. L. Newton, recently resigned.
Prof. Riser is eminently qualified for
the position to which he has been
elected having had twelve year's experience
in some of the most prominent
schools of the State, He .is a
graduate of Newberry and a postgraduate
of Yale.

Oar Senior editor, we are glad to
say, is at last able to be out after a
long and painful sickness. He appreciates
the kindness extended to him
during his illness by his many friends.
We were glad to be informed that
our old friend, G. A. Goodwin, bas
recovered from a recent illness, and
is able to sit up in bed. Dock is a true
friend and good citizen and is known
from one end of the county to the
other.
The "ground hog" came out, and,

out. This means, according to the
same authority, that we will have no

Work on the brick store of Kaminer
& Company is progressing rapidly.
The walls are nearing completion and
the carpenters are now at work.
When completed it will be among
the handsomest buildings in town.
A lady remarked to us the other
day that in advocating a civil league
in Lexington the Dispatch was on

was arrested yesterday after and exciting
chase with Sheriff Miller's
blood hounds. He is charged uith
having stolen a bicj cle at Johnston,
and was making his way to Columbia,
when overhauled here. Wise was a
former resident of tnis place.
