our newly , elected members to the
Legislature was /iff, town yesterday
J - - v and made us a pleasant call. Mr. Addy,
we predict will make -us a live
member and will do his county proud
as well as himself credit.
There will be a Christmas tree at the
Baptist church on Christmas Eve at
7:30 o'clock. Tiie occasion will no
doubt be a happy or.e to the little folk

with'this church. A cordial invitation
is extended to the public.
Chief Constable E. L. Kibler came
over from Columbia Tuesday morning
and raided one of the social clubs. A
quantity of beer and whiskey was
seized and turned over to Sheriff
Miller and it is now stored in the jail
awaiting farther action by the officials.
The Trustees of the bankrupt estate
of W. P. Roof sold last Monday
a tract of eighty-three acres. Mr. E.
G. Dreher was the purchaser and the
price paid was $1,650 which is considered
below its value.
During the absence of the pastor,
Rev. M.Brown, from town la9t Sunday,
the Rev. Mr. Roof, from the Lutheran
Seminary, preached at St. Stephen in
the morning and Rev. P. D. Risinger
in the evening.
Miss Lilabelle Harm an, the daughter
of Mr. W. A. Harman has returned
home finished as a trained nurse from
the State Hospital.
The congregation and friends of
Rev. Mr. Brown, pastor of St. Stephen,
gave him a good pounding last Tuesday

n- ( Mary Elizabeth Bonknigbt was born
m March 22, 1846, and died Oct. 14, 1912,
at making her age 66 years,6 months and
