Registration Board Met.
The county board of registration
met on Monday, and many new certificates
were issued during the day.

evening, commencing at S o'clock.

The proceeds will be nsed for
installing electric lights in the Methodist

Store Will Open Soon.
The purchasers of the stock of goods
in the Roof store will open for business
within the next few days, and the
stock disposed of at low prices. New
goods will be rushed in and the managers
will put on a big sale, announcement
of which will appear in The Dispatch
next week.

Gave Their Pastor
Buggy And Harness.
The Rev. J. A. Cromer, who for
more than 30 years has been the faithful
and beloved pastor of the Zion ,
Lutheran charge, was on last Thursday
presented with a handsome new
buggy and harness by his parishioners.
Despite the inclement weather
the joint Sunday school picnic, embracing
the five stroDg congregations
of Zion, St. PeterB, Emanuel Pilgrim
and Mt. Herman, was attended by
one thousand people.
The gift came as a great surprise to
Mr. Cromer. The presentation was
made by the Hon. C. M. Eflrd in a
happy little speech. The pastor w-s
visibly affected by the token, which
is bat an index to the high esteem in
which he is held by those who know
him best.
There is no better man living than
the Rev. J. A. Cromer, and it is the
sincere wish of all that he may live
many more years to cast sunshine into
the hundreds of. home* in this connty,
where his name is a synonym for all
that is pure, just and right.
Root Stock Brought $8,700.
The stock of merchandise belonging:
to the bankrupt estate of W. P. Roof
was sold at public auction by John J.
Earle, referee in bankruptcy, on last

purchased by Goldberg & Schlosberg,
of Augusta, for $8,700. In addition to
the stock of merchandise two automobiles
were auctioned off. The Everette
touring car was bought by W. E.
Evans, of Columbia, for $445, ?md the
Schact roadster was bought by J. J.
Long for $50.
The sale attracted a large crowd of
visitors and the bidding was lively.
White Man Arrested.
George Sigktler, a white man of the
Edmnnd section, was lodged in jail
Monday night by Sheriff Sim J. Miller
upon the charge of assault and battery
with intent to kill and carrying
concealed weapons. It is alleged that
Sightler committed an assault upon
the person of John A. Lucas on Saturday
last.

The family of Mr. J. B. Sox held a j
reanion yesterday. All of the chil- |
dren, the grand-children and many of j
the surrounding neighbors were pres- I
ent. A barbecue dinner was served in \
the beantifnl grove, the table fairly
groaning with good things to eat.
Goes To Chaingang.
Constable L. L. Roof, of Chapin,
brought Fred Summers, a negro, to
the chaingang yesterday to serve a
sentence of 45 days imposed by Magistrate
Friok on the charge of disturbing
religious worship. Jack Summers, a
brother to Fred, received a sentence
of |45 or 40 days on a like charge, but
Jack paid hig fine.
