rain, Mrs. Herman F. Lehman, of
Buffalo, N. Y.t was finally arrested.
At Attica, Mrs. Lehman entered
the Eagle hotel and a few moments
later returned to her car accompanied
by Evelyn Mildred Sloan, aged eleven,
adopted daughter of John Sloan, proprietor
of the hotel. Mrs. Lehman
claims the child as her own daughter,
taken away from her by its father,
Charles A. Deming, of Chicago, 111.,
shortly after the child was born.

I ought to liave painted last year, but
I hatod to pay $2.25 a gallon.
I've got to paint thi9 year; it'll take
a little more paint; I suppose 1 gallon
in 10; and a little more work, I suppose
1 day in 10.
My job would have co9t last year
about $52.50; it is going to cos' this

The primary election will be held in
South Carolina on August 27.
A registration certificate and tax receipt
is not necessary to vote in the
primary. The registration certificate
andtax receipt is required for the general
election.
The requirements to participate in
the primary election are:
Residence in South Carolina one
year.
Residence in the county (H) days preceding
the next general election
No person shall be allowed to vote

particular club list at which he offer.to
vote at least live days before the
first election, which clnb shall have a
separate polling place for primary
elections; except in Charleston the
