Harman, which was beautifully decorated, was a feature of great enjoyment to all yho were so fortunate as to be present, this being one of the series of socials given by the Ladies' School Improvement League for the benefit of our new high school, which is certainly a worthy cause, having a tendency to bring cogether the friends and patrons of the school. One of the most pleasing incidents was the vo ting of a handsome punch bowl to Miss Ada J Williams as the most popular lady of the evening. They realized from the entertainment a nice sum of money. Mr. Jasper Long, a highly respected farmer, living abont a mile and a half from Barr, was fonnd dead in his bed by members of his family yesterday morning. In the opinion of Dr. Drafts, who was called in by the family, Mr. Long died without a struggle. With the exception of a slight pain in the chest. Mr. Long was in his nsnal health when he retired Monday night. He died with a fan in his hand. The deceased was 66 years old, and leaves his wife, four sons and two daughters. He was a Confederate veteran. His remains will be laid to rest in the Long burying ground this morning following the funeral services j from the home by tne Rev J. A. Cromer. Mr. Long was a member of St. Peters' Lutheran church. Taking Week Off. The State campaigners are taking a week off, having spoken at Aiken on Friday.
