What Do Yon Dream About
In a story in the August American
Magaziue, Edna Ferber writes:
"We all carry with us into the onenight
stand country called Sleepland a
practical working nightmare that we
nse again and again, no matter how
varied the theme or setting of our
dream-drama. Your surgeon, tossing
uneasily on his bed, seds himself cutting
to remove an appendix, only to
discover that that unpopular portion of
his patient's anatomy already bobs in
alooholic glee in a bottle on the top
shelf of the laboratory of a more alert .
professional brother. Your civil engineer
constructs imaginary bridges
which slump and fall as quiokly as they
are completed. Yonr stage favorite,
in the throes of a postlobster nightmare,
has a horrid vision of herself
'resting' in January. But when he
who sells goods on the road groans
and tosses in the clutches of a dreadful
dream, it is, strangely enough,
never of canceled orders, maniacal
train schedules, lumpy mattzesse9, or
vilely cooked lood. These everyday
thinsra he acceote with a T>hilo90pher's
cheerfulness. No?his nightmare is
always a vision of himself, sick on the
road, at a coun try hotel m the middle
of a Spring season."

Late hours account for a lot of premature
wrinkles.
You can always depend on some
men doing nothing at all times.
A wise man compliments a woman
before asking a favor of her.
Occasionally a man marries a girl in
order to get her off his mind.
Every time you tell your troubl es
you are wasting the other fellow's
dine.
Ignorance is bliss when a man has
more money than he knows what to
do with.
Many a man's bad lack is due to the
fact that he has neither inherited ability
nor acquired industry.

Blackbird Wrecks Auto.
Mrs. Nelson Macey, of New York, is
at her summer home here suffering
from severe bruises and with her face
scratcned and her lower lip cut into,
all because of a blackbird.
Mrs. Macey was driving to a card
party,, when the bird flew in the back
of the wind shield and flopped back
and forth in her face. She took her
hand off the steering wheel a moment
to grab for the bird, lest it beat out its
life on the glass. The car swerved and
brought up suddenly against a tree
almost at the door of William G. Rockefeller
's residence.
The car bounded back and the wind
shield was smashed, the shower of
glass ending the bird's life and gashing
Mrs. Macey's face. Mr. Rockefeller's
family invited her into their
home,, where Dr. Packer took Beveral
stitches in her lower lip.?Greenwich,

Want Blease in Atlanta,
Says Tbos. B. Felder.
According to a dispatch from Atlanta,
Felder accuses Blease of a felony
of some kind while he was in Atlanta
attending the Southern Commercial
Congress. As to the nature of thi9
act, Felder says that it is of such that
none of the newspapers will publish it
and he will not yet tell.
In regard to this, the Atlanta lawyer
is quoted a9 saying:
"Eyen here in Atlanta Blease carried
on his crimes, and when he wa9
attending the Southern Commercial
nnnerpss here in 1911 he was guilty of
^ v~? ? ,
a felony the nature of which is absolutely
unpublishable. When he is no
longer governor of South Carolina we
will have iiirn indicted here as well as
in South Carolina. When we present
the evidence we have to the South
Carolina grand jury it will overwhelm
Blease, for even he does not suspect
bow much we know. He will be
found guilty of enough crimes to keep
him in the penitentiary the rest of his
life."
