Wise is sick with fever at the home of his parents, in Batesburg. Chris is well known in Lexingto 1, he having been here for several weeks, holding the position of chaffeur for Solicitor George Bell Tim merman. In this issue of the Dispatch Mr. Jesse O. Wingard announces his candidacy for the position of County Auditor. Mr. Wingaad is a young man of ability, being a graduate of Clemson College of the class of 1910. He has been teaching in the public schools of the county during the last year. Mathias, of Irmo, graduated from the Charleston Medical College on Monday night. Mr. Mathias is a popular young man. and his .friends throughout the county and State will be glad te learn of his graduation. Mr. and Mrs. Luther Garrin, Mrs. J. Tally Earth and Miss Mary Hendrix, of Colombia, visited relatives here for a short while Sunday. Solicitor George Bell Timmerman is attending court in Aiken this week, being the leading counsel in the prose; cution of the case of the State against Seigler, who is charged with the murder of policeman Patterson. "Women, Home and Health," will be the subject of a lecture to be delivered in the court house by Mrs. E. F. Darby, tomorrow afternoon at 3:30 o'clock. Public cordially invited.' Sflll Burned Yesterday; Loss Very Heavy. The large and well equipped turpentine still of Mr. J. Press Clarke, in thi9 town, was destroyed by fire yesterday morning, together with a lot of turpentine and rosin, causing a total loss of $1,500. The fire occurred while the still was in operation, and its origin is unknot n. The los9, coming at this time, is peculiarly heavy on Mr. Clarke. Court Next Week. The regular term of the court of general session 9 for Lexington county will convene on next Monday morning with the Hon. J. W DeVore, of Edgefield, presiding. The court will only last a few days, it being understood that only the jaii cases will be tried. There will be no common pleas court at this term, the Bar association having reached this agreement at it9 meeting several days ago. Hook 'and two charming daughters of Columbia. Those present were Miss Vera Hook, Mrs. Frye, Mrs. Wilson, Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Hook, Mr. William Lorick, Mr. Albert. Newmans, Mr. S. D. Hook, and Mr. Eugene Hook, all of Columbia. Mr. George was unanimously voted a gallant and ideal host. The Chafngang. The county chaingang with 27 hands is now located at Cedar Grove church. Wnen the work is completed there, which will be within the next few days, the chaingang will work down the Augusta road making repairs as far as Brookland, from which place they will work through the famous Hogabaa swamp section. Some splendid work has been done by the gang on the roads leading into the towns of Batesburg and Leesyille during the last few weeks. f Edwin 0.
