Committees Named To
Get Subscription j.
Pursuant to the call, the Live Stock
Association met at Lexington on May
6th at 3 p. m. After reading of min.
utes of last meeting and enrollment of
new members, the president called on
Dr. W. F. Burleigh, of Clemson College,
who explained what wa9 necessary
for a county to do to get into the
quarantine territory; namely build
dipping vats, spray uie cattle or rotate
the pasture lands. On motion it
was decided to appoint three persons
in different communities to raise funds,
gather material and have dipping vats
bnilt under the supervision of the
State and National divisions of animal
industry.

having been raised by popular subscription,
it was decided tbat each
committee wa9 entitled to the money
given by persons in their respective localities
to help defray the expense of
building the vat in their section.
On motion it was decided to ask the
Supervisor and his board to contribute
$100 to buy chemicals to make the
solution for the various \ats. The
board voted the amount asked.
The aboye-namea committees are requested
to meet at their earliest convenience,
to canvass their respective
sections for funds, select a place to
build their vats and report their findings
to the county secretary. For information
as to material and cost of
vats or any other information apply
to the county secretar}-.

family was killed and Kell
Potts was dangerously wounded in a
fight following a quarrel over a card
game. The men used knives.

Young Man Kills Self.
Leaving a certified check to pay Iiis
board and funeral expenses, Jonathan
Hawkins, 25 years old and unmarried,
of Andrews, S. C., killed himself at
Waycross, Ga. The deceased left a
note requesting that none of his relatives
be notified.

Killed by Boiler Bursting.
Wednesday afternoon at Cassette, a
small station a few miles south of McBee,
the boiler of an engine at a shingle
mill exploded. One man, Marion
Shull, of Banner Elk, N. C., was instantly
killed. Mr. Shull had been
married only about a month. Several
others were slightly hurt.
John R. Staton, Joyce, Ky., had. an
exceptionally severe attack of whelping
