Saluda County Strong
Against Dispensary.
A dispatch from Saluda on Thursday
sa>s:
The auti-dispensary forces in this
county have just about completed a
whirlwind campaign in opposition to
the effort to have an election in this
county on the question of re-establishing
a dispensary, which was precipir<nmn

ports now coming in show an overwhelming
majority against legalizing
the sale of liquor and in opposition to
the call of an election.
In one school district every yoter so
far as can be ascertained signed the
counter petition. At Ridge Spring
and Monetta only five or six have
failed to sign against. At Wards and
in that community those favoring the
election, it is said, is less than a baker's
dozen. In thi9 town more than
90 per ce nt are signed up in opposition.
Equally as good reports are expected
f rom the other communities.
It i9 now confidently believed that
those advocating the election will fail
t-o obtain the requisite one-fourth on
their petitions.

Man Kills Bartender.
At Macon, Ga., T. W. Malone, a
railroad switchman, walked into the
bar of the Seminole club, a locker
club, last week and shot and killed E.
Hodges, tlie bartender. Malone later
was arrested at liis home. He told the
police he had been robbed of $100
while at the club and accused the bartender
of taking the money.
Escapes An Awful Fate.
A thousand tongues could not express
the gratitude ot Mrs. J. E. Cox,
of Joliet, 111., for lier wonderful deliverance
from an s,wf ul fate. 4 'Typhoid
pneumonia had lef t me with a dreadful
cough,'' she writes. "Sometimes I
had such awfnl coughing spells I
thought I would die. I could get no
help from doctor's treatment or other
medicines till I used Dr. King's New
Discovery. But I owe my life to this
wonderful remedy for I scarcely cough
at all now.'' Quick, safe and reliable

Bind Woman Fire House.
In the guise of telephone repairmen,
robbers gained entrance to the house
of Mrs. E. A. Clark, in Chicago, and
forced her to give them her jewels and
nearly $1,000 in cash. They tied her
to a table in the basement and set tire
to the house. Firemen broke down
the doors with axes and rescued Mrs.
Clark unconscious.

Hugh Tallman, of San Antonio. "We
