A Word to Candidates.
The campaign, preliminary to the
primary in which county and State
officers will be nominated, is about to
open, and the cards announcing the
candidacy of the various aspirants for
offices and political honors will be published,
as customary, in the newspapers.
In order that there may be no
mistake and no ground for hard feeling
on the part of candidates, we
think it advisable to state at the outset
that no announcement card will be
printed unless it is paid for when the
copy is sent in for publication. This
is a hard and fast rule in this office,
and wiJl not be broken in favor of any
one. It is no reflection on any of the
candidates, but simply a matter of
business, for it does not pay to do any
transient advertising on a credit basis,
and experience lias taught us that
nothing is harder to collect than a bill
for a political advertisement that has
stood on the books for several months.
The charge for candidates' cards will
be $5, the card to run continuously until
the primary. No redaction will be
made on cards inserted late in the
campaign.
