WouM Abolish Hanging.
A bill to provide for imposing the
death penalty by electrocution within
the State penitentiary was introduced
in the senate Wednesday by W. J.
Johnson, sena'or from. Fairfield, and
referred to the committee on judiciary.
The bill provides that all persons
convicted of capital crimes and having
imposed upon them the sentence of
death shall suffer such penalty by
electrocution within the walls of the
State penitentiary at Columbia, in
stead of by hanging.
