Lightning Kills Few.
In 1906 lightning killed only 169 people
in this whole . country. One's
chances of death by lightning are less
than two in a million. The chance of
death from liver, kidney or stomach
trouble is vastly greater, but not if
Electric Bitters be used, a9 Robert
Madsen, of West Burlington, la.,
proved. Four doctors gave him up after
eight months of suffering from virnlent
liver trouble and yellow jaundice.
He was then completely cured
by Electric Bitters. They're the best
stomach, liver, nerve and kidney remedy
and blood purifier on earth. Only

A Des Moines man had an attack of
muscular rheumatism in his shoulder.
A friend advised him to go to Hot
Springs. That meant an expense of
$160.00 or more. He sought for a
quicker and cheaper way to cure it
and fonnd it in Chamberlain's Liniment.
Three days after the first application
of this liniment he was well.

Old Year Memories.
Let us forget the things that vexed
and tried ug,
The worrying things that caused
our sonls to fret;
The hopes that cherished long, were
still denied us,
Let us forget.
Let us forget the little slights that
pained us,
.The greater wrongs that rankle
sometimes } e:;
The pride with which some lofty one
disdained us,
Let us forget.
Let us forget our brother's fault and
failing,
The yielding to temptation that
beset,
That be perchance, though grief be
unavailing,
Cannot forget.
But blessings manifold, past all de
serving,
Kind w^rds and helpful deeds, a
countless throng,
The faults o'ercome, the rectitude unswerving,
Let us remember long.
The sacrifice of love, the generous j
giving
When friends were few, the hand- |
clisp warm and strong,
Th fragrance of each life of holy living,
Let us remember long.
Whatever things were good and true
and gracious,
Whate'er of right has triumphed
over wrong,
What love of God or man has rendered
precious,
Let cs remember long.
;
So, pondering well the lessons it has
taught us,
We tenderly may bid the year
"Good-by,"
Holding in memory the good it
brought us,
Letting the evil die.
