Edgefield Farmer Robbed on Highway. On lasfc Tuesday night, just after dark, Mr. Jesse Turner, a prominent farmer of Edgefield county, was held up by five men and robbed of $487. The robbery occurred four miles west of Edgefield, on a public road, between Edgefield and Johnston. Tuesday afternoon Mr. Turner sold a lot of cotton and with the proceeds of the sale left in his wagon for home. As he reached a secluded spot in the road two men jumped from the bushes and caught the bridle reins of the horses, the other three getting into the wagon, two of them covering Mr. i Turner witli pistols, while the other relieved him of the money. After the robbery the parties took to the woods and as yet there is no clue to their identity. The robbers were masked and Mr. Turnerhas no idea as to who they were, not being able to say whether they were white or black. Tampa, Fla., Dec. 15.?Standing 25 feet apart, Ulrjck Langford and Henry j Driggers poured squirrel shot into j each other at LaBelle City late yesterday afternoon, according to a dispatch received here today. Driggers expired before he could be removed from the street, and Langford died a few hours later. Both men had been drinking, and, following a quarrel, decided to shoot it out. Both secured shotguns, stepped off the distance, and at the word commenced firing. Driggers, partly disemboweled, fired the second shot which caused Langford's death while lying on the ground. Harrison, aged 37, lineman of th? Southern Fell Telephone company, met his death suddenly in Spartanburg on Tuesday while 40 feet in the air.
