Clemson College to Give
One Year Agricultural
Course.
The young farmers of South Carolina
who, for lack of means or from personal
disinclination, have been deterred
from taking a four-year course
in agriculture haye long felt the need
of a short course in agriculture th
would enable them to become more
efficient farmers. South Carolina has
needed, and is needing today, young
mpn ati thp farm whnhavp the knowl
edge necessary to make farming highly
profitable; and that will transform
the drudgery of the farm into agreeable?even
pleasurable work.
The board of trustees at its recent
meeting adopted their commendation
of President Riggs, providing for such
a course to be established at Clemson,
which will be arranged to begin next
session. This course will provide for
instruction in agriculture, horticulture,
animal husbandry, dairy
farming, mechanics, blacksmithing,
simple book-keeping, arithmetic, and
grammar There will also be given
instructions in parlimentary roles and
public speaking as will enable the
graduate to be a leader in his home
community. Will cost $100 for session.

Ferrell, the Gaffney, S. C., minister,
was positively identified today through
a photograph as the preacher who
tried to woo an Atlanta girl through
the want ad. columns, and who wa6
tried before Judge Brojles of the local
city court on complaint of the girl in

by Judge Broyles, as well a9 by policemen
and reporters who had seen
the matrimonially inclined parson -at
the time of his arraignment
Another feature to the tangle has
been added by the receipt of a letter
from Gaffney stating that Rev. W. A.
Ferrell already is married.
Shortly after the publication of the
court proceedings in the want ad. wooing
minister's case an indignant man
giving the name of Rev. W. A. Ferrell
called on Judge Broyles and vehemently
excoriated the alleged impo9ter,
who had made the matrimonial attempts
under his name.- This man
was given a letter by Judge Broyles
declaring that he was not the man who

The matter rested at this stage until
the arrival of the photograph, which
was identified today. The Rev. W. A.
Ferroll when on trial stated under
oath that he was not married.

Young Girl Was Killed.
A Miami, Fla., dispatch says that
Hattie Parcel, the 15-year-old girl
whose body was found in the Miami
river was dead when thrown in the
water, was the principal testimony
brought out at Tuesday's trial of P.
C. Cox, charged with murder. Evidence
by Dr. A. G. Post, who conducted
the post mortem examination.
According to Dr. Post, the girl's
wounds indicated that she had been
killed with a sand-bag and that she
had been dead about twelve hours
when found. The condition of the
body indicated that it had been in the
water only about eight hours, a9 there 1
was no water in the lungs or stomach. '
It is expected that it will be several ^
days before the State's evidence is
completed.

Suggs Abducted a Girl.;!J
Winston L. Suggs, a white man
about 28 years of age, was arrested
in Darlington Tuesda}*, charged
with abducting a young white girl
who is a member of a well known
family of Florence. Suggs was taken
up on a warrant it-sued by the mother
of the child and taken to Florence
