Siys 106-Year-Old Man as He Awaited
Death With Smile,

God ha9 been good to me and
allotted me a long life. Let me die
smoking."
Puffing the cigarette and smiling at
the attendants, Abraham I^acs, aged
106, died today at a local hospital, unable
longer to bear the weight of his
years.
Isaacs entered the hospital when 85
years old, paying $2,000 for a life berth.
; He was an inveterate smoker and
maintained that tobacco wa9 an aid
to longevity. The physicians at the
hospital never attempted to curtail
, his supply.

MOTHER'S FEARFUL
DEED.
Fires House. Causing Death of Six
Children and Self,
Apparently laboring under a mental
strain. Mrs. Axel Johnson, wife of ft
farmer living near Braddock, N. D.,
locked herself and her six children in
their home and set fire to the house.
All were burned. Mr. Johnson was
working in the field some distance
from the house when the tragedy occurred.
Neighbors believe Mrs. Johnson
Iqcked and barricaded the doors and
nailed down the windows of the house.
Then saturating the room with oi),
she applied a match. Neighbors rushed
to the house, but rescue was impossible.
The bodies were found in a
corner of the living room under the
smouldering mass, where they had
huddled together when the flames surrounded
them.

annually, which is several hundredfold
