Shooting at Sally.
Howell Cooper, a yourg merchant of
Sally, was shot and probably fatally
wounded by Henry H Corley, another
young merchant on Friday night.
Cooper is in the Columbia hospital and
Dorley is in the Aiken jail. Liquor is
said to have been the cause of the
3hooting. Both are well connected.

White Man To Hang
For Killing Negro.
A. J. O'Berry, a white man, wa9
teutenced on Thursday at Brunswick,
}a., to hang on November 27 for the
nurder of Mary Randolph, a negro,
md her 13-year-old daughter, in Camlen
county, on the night of August

Conference ol Charities.
The third annual meeting of the
south Carolina Conference of Charlies
and Correction is announced for
November 23 and 24 at Columbia. The
gathering is made up of social workers :

benevolence and penology.

County Treasurer E. L. Wingard
will commence his annual trip over
the county tor the collection of taxes
on next Tuesday, November 7th. The
first point will be Gaston, on Tuesday
afternoon. The editor will accompany
Mr. Wingard on these rounds in
search of delinquent subscribers. We
hope that eyery subscriber, whether
in arrears or not, will meet the editor
on these trip9 and put his name on the
honor roll of cash-in-advance subscribers.
