This appeal is made, thatr you and your neighbors may be saved from their 6hare in the enormous waste from fire which so afflicts our State und the n country generally, That by reducing the fire losses the fire insurance premiums may be reduced. Therefore this respectful and earnest appeal is made to you. The.sections of the Act of 1904 which relate to this matter read a9 follows: When the Insurance Commissioner or hi3 Deputy or the Chief of the Fire Department or Chief of Police or Intendant (where there is no Chief of Fire Department), or County Sheriff, shall find in any building or upon anv premise combustible material or conditions pingerous to the safety of such building or premises, they shall order the s.mc to be removed or remedied And s trh order shall forth with be complied w t i 'oy zne owner or occupant eusiuu building or premises. Any one failiog to comply with the orders of any of the above named officers shall be punished by a fine of^r.ot less t*han ten dollars for each day's neglect: Provided. however, That if said owner or | occupant shall deem himself aggrieved by such order he 111 y, within twentyfour hours, appeal to the Insurance Commissioner and the cause of the complaint shall at once be investigated by the direction of the latter, and unless by his an! horifcy the order of the Fire Chief or Chief of Police is revoked such order shall remain in full force. The Insurance Commissioner or his Deputy, or the Chief of Fire Department or Chief of Police or Intendant (where there is no Chief of Fire Department), or County Sheriff, shall haye the right, at all reasonable hours, for the purpose of examination, to enter into and upon all buildings and premises within their jurisdiction, and whenever any of said officers shall find in any bnilding or upon any premises combustible material or conditions iangerons to the safety of such building or premises, they shall order the same to be removed, or remedied, and 3uch order shall be forthwith complied with by the owner or ocbnpant of said building or premises: Provided, howBver, That if the said owner or occunant shall deem himself aggrieved by such order, he may, within twentyfour hours, appeal to the Insurance Commissioner, and the cause of the complaint shall be at once investigated by the direction of the latter, and unless by his authority the order of the Pire Chief or Chief of Police above named is revoked, such order shall remain in force, and be forthwith complied with by said owner or occupant, rhe Insurance Commissioner or his Deputy, Pire Chief or Chief of Polioe or County Sheriff shall, as aforesaid, make an immediate investigation as to bbe presence of combustible material or the existence of inflammable conditions, in any building, or upon any premises under their jurisdiction, upon oomplaint of any person having an interest in said building or premises or property adjacent thereto. , B.
