Msfc Lynches White Man.
Forcing: their way into the' Desha
County jail at Dutnas, Ark , between
fifty and one hunlred men, members
of a mob formed so quietly that the
authorities had not tho slightest warning,
overpowered the deputies in
charge and took Charles Malpas, Sr.,
white, to a water tank arid hanged
him early Wednesday. The mob then
dispersed without demonstration.
The lynching followed a pitched hattie
at the home of Malpas the day before,
in which the sheriff and two deputies
were killed. The wife of Charles
Malpas, Sr., a negress, and the Malpas
younger son. a young mulatto, escaped
from the house during the fighting.
The authorities say they do not
think the negress and the boy engaged
in the battle and for this reason it is
not thought the two will be sought
further in connection with the affair.

Mayor Beaten to Death.
C. H. W. Johnson, mayor of Oakhurst,
a suburb of Atlanta, was beaten
to death with a scantling by T. W.
Zuber, after the latter had been shot
and mortally wounded by Johnson.
Zuber was rushed into Atlanta for
medical attention, and Johnson died
at bis home about 15 minutes after the
fight.

will be held at the school house therein
on the 14tn day of Octboer. 1911 for
the purpose of voting a special levy of
three mills for school purposes therein.

Hung Him Quickly.
At Kiev, Russia, Dimitri Bogroff,
the assassin of Premier Stolypin who
was condemned to death by eourtmartial,
was hanged a few days after the
Premier's death. Before the execution
the young man asked that he
mivht see a rabbi but refused this consolation
when informed that the interview
must be in the presence of cfliciais.

A Bloodthirsty Virginian.
In the presence of a large crowd of
people, who had assembled for court
week at Lo\ ingston, Ya.. Dr. J. A.
Petit, a physician of Roseland, was
shotfiye times in the head and instantly
killed by Benjamin Hubbard. Hubbard
was immediately arrested and
placed in jail to awai: a hearing, An
ancient grudge is said to have been responsible
for the tragedy. The shootirg
took place on one of the principal
streets of the town in fro. t cf the note!.

Destroys Money.
A special from Waycross, Ga., of
recent date says:
Hundred dollar bills, fifties and other
smaller denominations were torn
into shred9 and silver coins by the bag
full were scafctere I about an express
car today by C. F. Radford, express
messenger on the Atlantic Coast Line
train No. 21, before he was linally subdued
and landed in jail here.
Radford claimed he insisted in Savannah
that he should not be sent out
on the run because of his condition,
that he was intoxicated and did not
know what he was doing in throwing
away the nnney from the safe.
The loss, if any, will not be kuown
until the money packages are carefully
cheeked. Between So,ODD and $10,000
was on board and most of this
amount was recovered f?*om Radford's j
bosom and trovnors pockets, accord- !
ing to the oiheers.
