Three Girls Drown.
f Mary Henderson, Bose Ferten and
Ellen Lumberg were drowned at
Houghton, Wis., Thursday night. The
girl's canoe capeised.

Army Officer Disappeared
Another mystery has developed in
the United States military service with
the disapparance from his post at Fort
D. A. Ruiaell, Wyoming, of Lieut.
Gibbes Lykes, an officer of Troop F,
9th Cavalry, stationed at that place.
Notices have been spread broadoast
through army channels notifying all
posts of the young officer's disappearance,
and it is hoped that information .
of his whereabouts will soou be received
from the post some time ago without
leaving word of his intended destination.

Pleading guilty of running a "blind
tiger'' in a negro church at Lizella, 12
miles from Macon, Ga., Walker Hawthorne,
a negro farmer, Wednesday
was held for the next federal grand
jury. Hawthorne is said to have kept
his stock of liquor concealed under the
