to accommodate our friends?our subscribers?by
carrying their subscriptions
through the summer months.
However, the postal laws will not allow
us to carry a subscription over
one year; and this, of course, forces
us to stop many papers that we would
otherwise be glad to continue. We
hope, then, that every."subscriber will
bear us in^mind when they sell their

Rat Bite Kills.
Seneca Farm and Factory.
Mr.,'D. B. Murphy is dead, as the result
of a rat biting one of his fingers
several weeks ago, a news article appearing
in these columns at the time.
Several days after the rat bit Mr. Murphy
the finger was amputated, and
shortly after that he took to his bed.
For three weeks he had been seriously
sick. The end came Friday morning
at 7 o'clock, at his home near the mill.
Funeral seryices were conducted at
Shiloh Baptist church, where he was
a faithful member. Mr. Murphy was
well known and was a good citizen,
quiet and peaceable. He is survived
by his wife and several children and
we join*with their many friends in extending
sympathy in this sad hour.
Never in the history of civilization
has there been a gpeater premium on
well trained minds than at the present
time. Never were business entergrises
conducted on a greater scale or required
more skillful management.
Mediocrity of indifferent service will
no longer be tolerated.
The young man or woman must be
able to do the work required by this
exacting age or give way to those who
can.
We have the facilities for supplying
what the business world demands. *
Our course of study is modern, our
teachers are earnest, zealous and practical,
and our appointments firstclass
We cannot expect to secure nor deserve
the patronage of the public unless
we do thorough work, for the success
of our school depends upon the
success of our graduates.
There is no time like the present.
Improve the present and you assure
the future.

of those who called to see us.

Hoke Smith to Resign.
A dispatch from Atlanta says that
Gov. Hoke Smith will resign the governorship
between Nov. 1 and 15, and
will be ready to assume his duties as
United States Senator when congress
convenes.
An article that has real merit should
in time become popular. That such is
ths case with Chamberlain's Cough
Kemedy has been attested by many
dealers. Here is one of them. H. W.
Hendrickson, Ohio Falls, iDd., writes,
"Chamberlain's Cough Remedy is the

Road Building.
Some yery costly roads are oemg
built in Maryland. From reports sent
oat from the office of the state highway
commission it appears that last month
$60,650 was spent on 5 1-1 miles of road
For gracing another road, 4 1-4 miles
long, $12,440 was spent.
Few, if any, medicines, have met
with the uniform success that has attended
the use of Chamberlain's Oolic,
Cholera and Diarrhoea Remedy. The
remarkable cures of colic and diarrhoea
which it has effected in almost every
neighborhood have given it a wide
reputation. For sale by All Dealers.
