The State Hospital for the Insane is
crowded, there being nearly 1,700 inmates

large number of patieuts.
During the month of May N3 patients

Several months ago the commission
purchased 2,500 acre9 of land, eight
miles north of Columbia. The general
assembly authorized the expenditure
of $200,000 during the year on new
buildings. The commission has adopted
the "colony plau" in the erection
of the new buildings and will build
for the future.
