The State Hospital for the Insane is crowded, there being nearly 1,700 inmates at present, and Dr. J. W. Babcock, the superintendent, said last Wednesday that the commission would push the work of the building of the i building of the new buildings at State I Park in order to accommodate the large number of patieuts. During the month of May N3 patients were admitted to the Hospital for the Insane, and nine applicants for adlYiioolnn htptp \?A/1 rPPPnf.iv hv I Dr. Babcock. This mean9 that the J new buildings are needed at once. Several months ago the commission purchased 2,500 acre9 of land, eight miles north of Columbia. The general assembly authorized the expenditure of $200,000 during the year on new buildings. The commission has adopted the "colony plau" in the erection of the new buildings and will build for the future.
