How To Core Hams.
In coring hams dry, cut and properly
brine the h ms; sprinkle a little
powdered saltpeter on the fleshy side;
nse three parte salt and 1 part grana
lafced sugar; salt and pack in a pile, or
pot in a box. The third day break op
your pile and re-sail witn me same
salt; do not add any more salt; re-pack
and let lay in balk for one day for
every pound the average ham weighs;
hang up and smoke for ten days with
hickory twigs or chips. Make a paste
of black pepper and molasses and put
on the flesh side; wrap in paper and
pack in a box or barrel, putting new
hay cut (in cutting knife) 1 or 1)4 inches
long between the pieces to keep
them from touching. Be sure to keep
the mice and rats out. This curing is

Teacher Stabbed
by Rivals.
Hugh McNair, 18 years old, who
was stabbed several days ago by Prof.
Cleve Edwards, principal of the public
school at Gaiille, Miss., died last
Wednesday. Edwards surrendered to
the authorities.
The trouble grow out of an alleged
attack by McNair and two companions
on Edwards upon'his return from
a visit to a young woman, for whose
attentions all cf the participants were
rivals.
