Death of Mrs. Kleckley. j
Mrs. J. "West Kleckley died at her |
home four miles north of Lexington j
on Sunday afternooni following an ;
illness extending over a ppriod of several
months. The deceased was about
65 years of age and is survived by her
husband and two children, one son
and one daughter, Mr. Robert Kleckley
and Miss Bessie Kleckley, respectively.

* Mrs. Kleckley was a woman ui tuw
highest traits of character?a devoted
wife, a fond mother, an affectionate
friend and devout christian.
Her remains were laid to rest in the
churchyard at St. Peter's on Monday
afternoon at 2 o'clock with funeral
services conducted by her pastor, the
Rev* J. A. Cromer.
Declined Call.
The Rev. D. B. Groseclose has declined
the call extended to him a few
weeks ago by the joint council of the
Lexington pastorate. This is very
much regretted, as the people of this
> -entire community, to gecher with the
several congregations comprising the
ohftrcrp. had honed that he would ac
cept, In declining the call the Rev.
Mr. Orosectose states that he cannot
ileave his work at Earhardt just at this
time. v
Pension Board Met
The Lexington County Pension
Board was in session Monday. Twelye
new applicants appliea for pensions,
And it is tboaghc that there will be
that many more before tne time expire.
^ The list of pensioners last year for
tbe county numbered 290. Fifteen
deaths during the past year were reported.

Judge Thos. <S. Sease on Monday
granted a change of venue to Richland
county in the case of H. L. Lucas,
plaintiff, against the Southern Bell
Telephone and Telegraph Co., a dam*
age suit for $30,000, for personal in\
inriee alleged to have been received
by the plaintiff while in the employ
of the defendant, on tne 13th day of
September, last year. The accident
oocured in Richland county, two miles
from Columbia on the Camden road,
* .and many of the witnesses for both
1 the plaintiff and defendant are said to
reside in the city of Columbia.

Noah klrafts.
Noah Drafts, better known as Noah
m Mitchell, one of the few old time darkeys
in this section, died at his home
about two miles from Lexington on
Sunday at the advanced age of about
90 years. Noah belonged to the Drafts
family during the slavery period, and
was ever faithful to eve?*y trust. By
thrift and industry he secured him a
little farm f his own and was always
respected by the mem'.ers of both
race9.
Dr. Greever Preached*
The Rev. Walton H. Greever, D. D.,
of Columbia, the brilliant editor of
The Lutheran Church Visitor, filled
the pulpits in St. Stephen's church on
Sunday night. In the forenoon the
Rev. Mr. Greever, preached at Nazareth.
At both places the preacher was
greeted by large and appreciative congregations.
Dr. Derrick Reappointed.
At the meeting of the county board
of commissioner:, on Monday Dr. E.
P. Derrick was unanimously reappointed
county physician. This was the
I only'matter's disposed or except tne
regular routine work of the board.
