Every Precaution Taken.!
During a recent smallpox epidemic
in Alabama special precautions against
the disease were taken in the mining
camps. In one of these camps the
president of the mining company paid
a visit on inspection and came upon
an old negro leaniag against the side
of a budding.
"Jake," asked the president, "are

WOMEN'S WOES.
Lexington Women Are Finding
Kelief At 'Last.
It does seem that women have more
than a fair share of the aches and
paius that afflict humanity; they must
"keep up," muit attend to dutips in

headaches, dizzy spells, bearing-down
pains; they must stoop over, when to
stoop moans torture. They must walk
and bend and work with racking pains
and many aches from kidney ills. Kid

other organ of the body. Keep the
kidneys well and health is easily maintained.

symptoms of kidney trouble. My head
ached severely and I endurc-d a great
deal of misery from severe paius through

Lever to Mead Committee
on Agriculture,
A spi-cial from Washington to The
News and Courier on Ti.ursd \v says:
Representative Lever has received
the solid endorsement c f the South
Carolina delegation in Congress for
chairman of the House committee on
1 agriculture.
There appears now to he no doubt
that Mr. Lever will land at the head
of this committee, although he stated
today that he wanted it understood
that he would not make a light against
the present ranking Democrat member,
Congressman Lamb, of Virginia.
He so informed the members of the
ways and means committee today.
